The surgeon will make an incision in the lower half of the areola, which is the pigmented area around the nipple. Through this incision, he will remove excess breast tissue and fat. In some cases, liposuction might also be used to remove stubborn pockets of fat. Once the surgeon has removed all the excess tissue, he will close the incisions with sutures or surgical tape.
